Synopsis
"Holes in the Bedroom Floor" is the incredible true story of a young boy's survival and perseverance.
Skippy was just a baby when his aunt found him on the living room floor. He was lying face down in a puddle of his own filth, crying and alone, his little baby leg wrapped in a cast. Rotten bottles of breast milk littered the kitchen counter and his mother was nowhere to be found...
Soon after, his parents split up and his wicked stepmother enters the chat. She gets a MAJOR kick out of abusing Skippy and LOVES to lock him in his room for days at a time. For the next ten years, Skippy is enslaved, starved, stripped naked and brutally beaten. He is forced to eat out of garbage cans and urinate in the corner of his bedroom. He finds solace in the comfort of his closet cocoon, where he talks to God for the first time and listens to his family enjoying life through the holes in his bedroom floor.
Follow along as Skippy takes you on his incredible journey of becoming a young man. He runs away from home at just twelve years old and is forced to sleep in the cab of his uncle's truck. He is picked up by Social Services and thrust into a system that doesn't want him. Every day is a fight for his survival. He is constantly bullied for the colour of his skin and is forced to fight for his allowance on the playgrounds of Prince Albert. It's here, in foster care, where Skippy gets drunk for the first time and gets raped.
Life's not all bad for Skip, but just when you think things are about to go right, they take a hard left. He is forced to kill off his own parents, his grandparents die and his uncle Marty is found brutally murdered in his garage. Skippy turns to drugs and alcohol to try to numb the pain, but he just CANNOT get the voices to stop whispering, "kill yourself".
With his new-found belief in God, he knows that he can never try to commit suicide. Not again. And even though life has never been easy for Skip, he knows that deep down inside, the pain may have defined who he is, but he will never let it break him!
